Honesty Counts
When it comes to developing your personality traits, honesty is an extremely important one that you should work on. Most people would consider themselves to be an honest person. When it comes to business dealings you may act a little differently.
The majority of people have told what they would consider to be little white lies to people. If this helps you make a sale to a customer, does it really hurt? You may have exaggerated on the effectiveness of a product for example. Or you may knowingly sell a damaged product because you didn’t want the hassle of returning it to the manufacturer.
Sometimes not being sincere with your customers can come back to haunt you. You may have told them that you use this product all the time. They return the product with an issue and ask how you solved it? You can’t honestly reply because you don’t own the product!
If you want to run a successful business and be seen as a successful person, you need to think about the consequences of your actions. Honest and sincere business people are those who consider their customers. They take the time to learn everything they can about their customers. This includes their likes, dislikes, their desires, the problems they have to deal with and what their budget is.
When you show an interest in your customers, they can tell when you are being sincere. It is not just your words that count but your body language too. When they are talking to you, if you constantly look away, they will assume that you are not interested.
Nobody likes dishonest business people and if you oversell your products your customers will not return. They don’t want to have products pushed onto them and they don’t want to purchase items that are faulty.
By displaying the trait of sincerity both your business and your personal life will flourish. Customers will only be too glad to recommend your products or services to their friends. Your family and friends will know that they can trust you to give an honest opinion when asked.
Always take the time to thank your friends and family for what they do for you. When was the last time you sent someone a thank you card or flowers just because? Get into the habit of showing your appreciation and your gratitude to others. They will love you for it and you will feel great about yourself.
